This is Part One of the Workshop series. Only read this if you want to learn more about Roleplay.

What is Roleplay?

From Wikipedia:

A role-playing game is a game in which the participants assume the roles of characters and collaboratively create stories. Participants determine the actions of their characters based on their characterisation, and the actions succeed or fail according to a formal system of rules and guidelines. Within the rules, they may improvise freely; their choices shape the direction and outcome of the games.

What does that mean?

It means, that Role Play is a simple game you play with others. You assume the role of a custom character that fits the theme of the game, or, 'story'. Based on your actions, you and the others shape the game based on what happens with you, and what the host decides to do.

So, for example, I'll give a small setup using two fake users.

User 1: John100

User 2: Bob154

Character for User 1: John

Character for User 2: Bob

{Here is where it begins}

*The host will place any information needed at the section for it to begin*

Everyone is sitting around a garden. Flowers are blooming around them.

*at this point, the users' characters can talk*

John looks at Bob and says, "Hello, Bob."

*users interact until the host decides to move it along, or until the characters move it on*

A teacher walks up to them. The teacher smirks, "What are you doing out here?"

*The host can use any character that is not owned by a user. These can be called, if you will, NPCs. The teacher is not a played character by a user, so he's used by the host.*

Bob looks at the teacher. "What do you want?" He asks.

---

Another change can be added to your roleplay. If you choose to make it like this, you can also have the users sign their name at the end of their line. Like so:

Everyone is sitting around a garden. Flowers are blooming around them.

John looks at Bob and says, "Hello, Bob." -John100

A teacher walks up to them. The teacher smirks, "What are you doing out here?"

Bob looks at the teacher. "What do you want?" He asks. -Bob154

Current Outcome:
